Security teams are better prepared to respond to a Mumbai-style terrorist attack in Britain, the Government said today.
Ahead of the London Olympics, special forces and elite police units have been trained to react to terrorists running amok in a city or town.
David Cameron today published the first annual report on the Strategic Defence and Security Review which highlighted the new focus on dealing with such an atrocity.
“The SDSR committed to enhancing the response of police armed response units to a terrorist firearms attack in the UK and supporting their work with specialist military units,” it said.
“Significant improvements have been made to the police and military response to a Mumbai-style attack.”
The document added that the leadership of al Qaeda is “weaker than at any time since 9/11″.
