THE key to losing weight could be as simple as just drinking water.
People who substitute sugar-laden drinks with water or diet drinks can lose five per cent of their body weight in just six months, research shows.
The study, published online in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, compared weight loss for 318 overweight or obese people.
Volunteers were divided into three groups – those who switched from calorie-laden beverages to diet soft drinks; those who switched to water; and those who did not change their drinks, but received general information about healthy choices that would lead to weight loss.
The groups were monitored for six months and all three experienced reductions in weight and waist measurements.
However, the groups who switched to water or calorie-free drinks were twice as likely to lose five per cent or more of their body weight than those who did not change drinks.
People in the group who drank mostly water had lower glucose levels and better hydration levels than the control group
Study author Professor Deborah Tate, of the University of North Carolina, said: “People in the group who drank mostly water had lower glucose levels and better hydration levels than the control group.”
She said switching to water could reduce the obesity epidemic – as long as people didn’t make up lost calories in some other way.




Yes water can be a useful aid in dealing with weight loss but do not for one minute think that diet drinks will aid weight loss. Diet sweetener drinks actually increase the craving of carbohydrates as you have robbed the Liver of what it thought it was going to receive from the taste or sweetness trickery in the mouth. Now it makes you want more of what you fooled it to thinking it was about to received. The reason sugar is fattening is simply because it damages the Spleen function through over stimulation. One should not take a lot of sweetness stimulation otherwise where sweetness is needed daily, over sweetness is far from productive. The Spleen also controls your muscles and this is why when you consume just a small amount of processed sugar you can no longer lift the weights you once did for a period of time at least. It does not matter if you are King Kong or not, it’s still the same and its all down to the Spleen. To really heal the body of weight one needs to rebuild Splenic function which will also have a positive knock-on effect with your Pancreas protecting you from digestive disorders, cancer and diabetes. Usually if one is suffering Spleen problems its down to the Liver function. If you want to study the water side more you must start to study the work of Dr Fereydoon Batmanghelidj and his book ‘Water and Salt your healers from within.’ When one drinks a glass of water thirty minutes prior to food eating this aids the pancreas function to work better on the digestive system. Remember one of the roles of the Pancreas is to buffer the high acidity from the small intestine before it enters the large intestine. If it’s not happening then you will get acid reflux symptoms where you need to physically buffer the acidity with sodium bicarbonate until you repair the damage to the Pancreas. Understand?
