MORE than three-quarters of British children have been abroad – but one in 10 cannot find the UK on a map, according to a survey.
The Heathrow airport study of 1,000 children aged six to 10 also revealed that 40 per cent did not know that the UK was in Europe.
Half could not find Spain on a map and a third did not know where France was.
Perhaps explaining their lack of geographic knowledge, 24 per cent said they did not know what an atlas was.
Heathrow has installed giant globes in its terminals in time for the Easter holidays to help children to locate their destinations…and maybe that of the UK.
