Military co-operation, bilateral ties with Spain explored

MADRID — King Juan Carlos I of Spain received at the Royal Palace here yesterday Sayyid Badr bin Saud al Busaidy, Minister Responsible for Defence Affairs who is on a several day visit to Spain.
The minister conveyed His Majesty the Sultan’s greetings and best wishes of good health to the Spanish king and further progress and prosperity to his people.

On his part, King Carlos asked Sayyid Badr to convey his greetings and best wishes of good health and long life to His Majesty and further progress and prosperity to the Omani people.

The king noted his country’s good relations with the Sultanate.

The talks discussed of strengthening the existing ties of friendship for the benefit of the two countries and issues of joint interest.

It was attended by Shaikh Hilal bin Marhoon al Maamari, the Sultanate’s Ambassador, the Spanish chief of joint staff and other Spanish officials.

Meanwhile, Sayyid Badr held an official session of talks with the Spanish Chief of Joint Staff and the Defence Minister D Pedro Morenes Eulate.

Sayyid Badr explored with the two officials bilateral relations and reviewed the existing military co-operation between the defence ministries of the two countries.

From the Omani side, the session was attended by the Omani Ambassador to Spain and the military delegation accompanying Sayyid Badr and from the Spanish side by state minister of defence, Secretary-General of defence policy, adviser to the minister for international affairs and defence ministry officials. — ONA
