CHICAGO (CBS) — Using the lure of $100 gift cards, the Chicago Police Department is encouraging people to get guns out of their homes and turn them in this Saturday, during the annual gun turn-in program.

As WBBM Newsradio’s Mike Krauser reports, the Police Department is partnering with 20 churches..

First Deputy Supt. Alfonza Wysinger says anyone who turns in a real gun will get a $100 gift card. Replicas and BB guns are worth $10.

“No questions asked,” Wysinger said. “Just show up at the church, and hand over the weapons to the CPD officer that will be there, and get your $100 gift card. So we strongly suggest that people come out that have weapons lying around the house, or weapons, maybe, that they don’t necessarily want in their house. This is a chance to get some money for their weapon, and get another dangerous weapon on the street.”

Good day to you again UHM.

I am doing some research on a country-men of mine. His name is Fredrik Vahlquist. He has been sitting in the Holy See, hence he was the swedish ambassador in the Vatican. He was later the swedish ambassador for Malta. And now he is the swedish ambassador to Croatia.

Last winter he wrote an article on a swedish main-line conservative site, where he strongly supported Croatia becoming a member of the EU. And he has been in Croatia as a representativ of the EU in Croatia in 2009; Introducing the Lisbon Treaty.

So He has been very activ for the EU expansion. He has also attended the funeral of the last Pope (JP). He has been interviewed by catholic radio in Sweden. I do not know if he is catholic, but my guess is that he is.

I can not find any ties of him to the jesuits or the Knights of Malta directly. But it is intreaging that he has been ambassador in thoese regions. I have found that he seems to be a loyal subject of the Wallenberg-clan here in Sweden.

I was wondering (maybe you can answer) if one has to go through something to be at the Holy See, does one have to be a Knight of Malta of some sort to be ambassador to the Vatican? And are the Wallenbergs Knights of Malta, or just simple hofjuden?

    • Just being an ambassador in a Embassy does not mean you have any direct connection as such with the Holy See apart from through the Papal Nuncio of the location if at all. I could be an ambassador for instance in Vatican City for my nation but not be a Catholic and anything as all to do with the Papacy. Its highly likely that he may be a Knight of Malta and part of its Johanniterorden i Sverige.
