Are Japanese Doctors Murdering Deformed Babies (And Hiding Fukushima’s Health Impact) ?
This is one of the craziest conspiracy theories that have emerged since 3/11. Apparently Japanese statistics about deformed babies are unreliable because Japanese doctors are murderers:
Keiko Ichikawa, the author of “A Letter from Fukushima”, says why we hardly see malformed children in Japan and what will possibily happen hereafter, in the symposium on the accident of Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant held in Odawara on 21st Aug 2011.
Ichikawa claims she saw lots of deformed children begging on the streets in India. Based on her experience as a tourist, she concludes that India must have far more deformed children than Japan. She claims that asked various Japanese medical workers told her that Japanese hospitals murder deformed babies after birth. The murders take place without the consent of parents and are recorded as miscarriages. The hospitals supposedly deny parents the right to see their dead children. This ultimately means that Japan has far less deformed children than India. When this policy of murder is applied to children born after the Fukushima nuclear accident, it will help authorities cover up the true impact of the radiation.
It is an extraordinary claim. But, as one intelligent comment on YouTube pointed out, “extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence” and she presents no hard evidence to back up her claim.
According to data from the March of Dimes, India has a rate of 64.3 birth defects per 1000 live births, while Japan has 51.7 for every 1000 live births. That places Japan at the lower end of the chart, but it is still higher than countries such as Costa Rica (51.5), Hungary (48.6), the United States (47.6), Italy (43.2), and France (39.7). If Japanese doctors are systematically murdering deformed babies after birth, it isn’t showing up in the statistics.
