An explosion south of Tel Aviv has claimed the life of a 20-year-old man and wounded three others, one of them seriously, Israeli media says.

The blast took place Saturday night in the city of Rehovot, some 20 kilometers (12 miles) south of Tel Avi, Ha’aretz reported.

The paper referred to the incident as a “car bomb” and said, “Police believe the incident is mob related.”

The wounded were identified as a man in his twenties, a passerby in her thirties, and another man, who was in the vehicle.

Online newspaper The Times of Israel said the device exploded around 9:30 p.m. (1930 GMT) in the city’s Kiryat Moshe neighborhood.

Earlier in the month, a man due to testify in a criminal case against senior organized crime figures was killed and his 17-year-old daughter lightly injured when a bomb detonated in their car, northeast of Tel Aviv.
