An 11-year-old boy in Alabama stopped an intruder from fleeing his home with stolen goods after shooting him several times. Now, the boy is speaking out about the encounter.
Eleven-year-old Chris Gaither was home alone Wednesday when he heard a noise. Someone had broken into his Alabama home. So, Gaither reached for a 9 mm handgun kept in the house.
“When he was coming down the stairs, that’s when he told me he was going to kill me, f-you and all that,” he said.
Afterward, the intruder walked through the front door holding a hamper and was about to jump a fence. He became target practice instead. Gaither fired off twelve shots at the intruder.
“I shot through the hamper he was carrying,” Gaither said. “It was a full metal jacket bullet. It went straight through the back of his leg. He started crying like a little baby.”
Police have not resealed the identity of the intruder. They say he was taken to a local hospital. His condition is unknown.
Gaither’s mom says the same man has robbed their home before.
“I hope you learn your lesson coming to this house, trying to steal stuff,” young Gaither said referring to the robber.
As for his marksmanship, Gaither has his step dad to thank.
