Megaupload Creator Kim Dotcom Appeals US Extradition Ruling

After years of chasing, threatening, spying and raiding, the US may finally have their man. Kim Dotcom has been deemed eligible to be extradited to the US by a New Zealand court, where he faces up to 20 years behind bars on charges of racketeering and money laundering.

The creator of once-huge file-sharing site Megaupload — there’s even a song about it, featuring a bunch of showbiz people singing its praises — denies the charges and will appeal the ruling, alongside co-accused Mathias Ortmann, Bram van der Kolk and Finn Batato.

Megaupload and Dotcom stand accused of being behind the biggest case of copyright infringement in US history, generating over $175 million (£118 million) from pirated movies and music.
