Now even students are being given a Police Role in the U.K.
STUDENTS TAKING ON POLICE ROLE

A POLICE force has enlisted the help of students to fight crime at a university.
Twelve undergraduates from the University of Portsmouth patrol the campus in high-visibility jackets. They were trained by officers from Hampshire Police.
It is the first scheme of its kind in the UK and the students, some taking criminology degrees, give advice on burglary, car and computer crime.
PC Dave Fairbrother, of Hampshire Police, said: “Students are much happier to talk to other students.”
Alice Hickman, volunteer officer at the university, said: “It’s still early days but we’ve already seen a reduction in the number of times fire alarms are being set off as a prank.
“We hope at the end of the year we will also see less crime across the board but especially bike thefts.”
