A worker has been reportedly killed and four others injured in a powerful blast at an ammunition factory in the southeastern part of Bulgaria.

According to the police, the explosion occurred on Friday near the town of Maglizh, Stara Zagora Province, which is located about 260 kilometers (160 miles) southeast of the capital, Sofia.

The reasons of the blast at the Bulgarian privately-owned factory were not immediately known.

The two wounded women, who had suffered burns, were taken to hospital in the provincial capital.

Interior Ministry Chief Secretary Svetlozar Lazarov said the police had sealed off the area around the plant, which specializes in producing fireworks and hunting ammunition.

This is the second similar incident in Bulgaria in just a few months. In October, 15 people were killed in a blast at an explosives decommissioning factory in the northwestern village of Gorni Lom.
