(NaturalNews) It’s enough to make your stomach turn, but then again, it involves the fast food giant McDonald’s, so is it any surprise?
What we’re talking about is a photo of a McDonald’s meal that Alaska resident Jennifer Lovdahl recently shared on social media. It features a Happy Meal box, its contents sitting off to the side. With the exception of some minor color changes, the fries and “chicken” nuggets look as though they were just ordered. Furthermore, the skin on the nuggets is still in tact and the fries aren’t wilting.
So, what’s the big deal, you ask?
The disturbing reality kicks in when you learn that the corresponding receipt for the meal reveals that it was purchased SIX long years ago, in 2010.
Now that’s just gross.
That a meal doesn’t rot after sitting around for so long is testament to the fact that there’s nothing healthy happening in McDonald’s meals, or any junk food selections from similar fast food giants for that matter. Foods that are fresh and made with healthy ingredients are supposed to rot. It’s that simple.
See the disturbing photo for yourself, which was taken from Lovdahl’s Facebook page:
“Choose real food,” says woman who found McDonald’s meal still intact after six years
Lovdahl says that the meal was sitting in the office building where she works the entire time. The reason why was to prove a point.
On her Facebook page, she wrote, “We did this experiment to show our patients how unhealthy this ‘food’ is. Especially for our growing children!! There are so many chemicals in this food! Choose real food! Apples, bananas, carrots, celery….those are real fast food.”
Of course, she hits the nail on the head with the fact that real food involves the likes of apples, celery and bananas. A junk food diet only contributes to the obesity epidemic, worsens health problems or brings about new ones, and does so while continuing to fuel a society that’s already sugar-addicted and itching to hit the drive-through for more. Instead, they should turn to natural, healing foods.
Here’s what McDonald’s has to say
Interestingly, there’s even an FAQ section on the McDonald’s website addressing why their food doesn’t rot. Yes indeed, so many people have noticed that McDonald’s food hardly changes even years after purchasing a meal that the company has actually reserved a section on their site to give consumers the scoop.
It states, “Food needs moisture in the air for mold to form. Without it, food will simply dry out – sort of like bread left out on a counter overnight to make croutons for stuffing. You might have seen experiments which seem to show no decomposition in our food. Most likely, this is because the food has dehydrated before any visible deterioration could occur.”
This isn’t the first time McDonald’s has faced scrutiny for their food quality.
Fast food chain no stranger to food problems
Just their fries alone are enough to make you shudder; the potatoes are processed using a flash-freezing method, followed by being dipped into dextrose and sodium acid pyrophosphate to preserve color. All told, about 19 various ingredients go into making McDonald’s fries, from foaming agents to hydrogenated soybean oil, all of which can wreak havoc on health.
Then there’s the latest fiasco in which the fast food chain proudly announced the addition of mozzarella sticks to their menu. Unfortunately for them and those who were excited to sink their teeth into the cheesy “food,” it was discovered that a key ingredient was missing: cheese. The Internet went on fire as people everywhere started posting photos of their hollowed-out sticks, quick to express their disappointment over the issue.
In response, McDonald’s dismissed the issue as a baking problem. “In these instances, we believe the cheese melted out during the baking process in our kitchens and shouldn’t have been served,” McDonald’s spokeswoman Lisa McComb wrote. “We apologize to any customers who may have been affected. We are working to fix this in our restaurants.”
Enough is enough. Don’t set foot in a McDonald’s, for the sake of your health. Instead, turn to fresh, organic, non-GMO options that help keep your body and mind thriving.
