Congressman Jackson Lee said that the US House of Representatives Judiciary Committee approved the No Fly for Foreign Fighters Act that seeks to ensure efficient vetting of potential terrorists amid growing threats from Daesh.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The US House of Representatives Judiciary Committee approved the No Fly for Foreign Fighters Act that seeks to ensure efficient vetting of potential terrorists amid growing threats from Daesh, Congressman Jackson Lee said in a press release.

“This bipartisan bill will require an independent review of the operation and administration of the Terrorist Screening Database (TSDB) maintained by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and subsets of the TSDB,” Lee stated on Tuesday.

Under the new legislation, the US Government Accountability Office would have to review the No Fly list, determine whether “past weaknesses” have been eliminated and implement additional changes, according to release.

The number of foreigners fighting for the Islamic State, also known as Daesh, has more than doubled in a year and a half and has numbered up to 31,000 jihadists, according to the New York-based security intelligence firm Soufan Group.
